Cane Fire by koalagardens

Cane Fire

We are one of the last areas that burns cane fields before harvesting and I hope the practice stops here soon, even if the fires at night are spectacular from my back yard. Next morning, even though this is several kilometres away, there is ash everywhere.
What a gorgeous glow , but so cruel for the small wild life around !!

I didn't realise that they still burnt the fields in Australia. You must have a lot of wildlife that flees to your property.

Wow, that would almost be scary, if you didn't know what it was. Great capture. What does the burning do for the cane?

Nice shot .At least it gets rid of a few snakes & rats !! The hawks get them if the the fire doesn,t.

@rickster549 they do it to drive wildlife out
so yes our native snakes get killed, the rats race up the hill to my place, and who knows how many small natives die each time.
@888rachel I know right, we are one of the last areas in Australia and it has been shown to be unnecessary!
@peterlgrave snakes, rats and so many native animals :(
@beryl it is quite a sight, but yes the destruction is unnecessary in truth
thanks all for commenting :)

Very impressive :)

I've only seen a cane fire once and I was amazed at how quickly it burnt. It doesn't give the animals much chance to get out.

Wow, never would have thought it would have been for that reason. Appreciate the info. Learn something new on here all the time.

Great shot of the fire. It`s forbidden in our country.
