What a day it was yesterday - it seems I have a positive ID on this fellow as a Little Bent-Wing bat which is a microbat that feeds on insects and is a vulnerable species so very important. That is a teaspoon so you can see how tiny it is!
A drink and rest and he is hopefully doing well out there.
Well isn't THIS a first?!! He's really quite cute...very cute in fact! I included a photo of a bat in my grandson's zoo book and wrote how they use their ears for "echolocation" at night, chasing those insects! Terrific photo!
@Weezilou@dsp2 thanks I actually had to take this photo left handed while spooning the water with my right so it was a challenge! I would not have attempted to pick up a fruit bat I don't think as I'm not trained for them, but this little guy was amazingly easy so he must have been really dehydrated as wild animals don't normally do this!
