Brown Cuckoo Dove by koalagardens

Brown Cuckoo Dove

Lovely subtle shades in this bird. I don't know why they put 'cuckoo' in the name of this bird as they make their own nest and share the raising of the chick (usually lay a single egg). This species was only recently separated out in 2016.
They like rainforests, and I spotted this one in the densely wooded gully that leads down to my rainforest pocket.
Thank you for being a part of my project and the lovely comments on my photos.
A lovely capture. Fav!! 😀

What a shame that this dove is tarred with the cuckoo in its name , especially as it had non of the cuckoo's bad habits ! A lovely capture !
