I just love watching the tadpoles develop into frogs, it's like a second childhood, I get quite excited. This beautiful one is just about to drop his tail - I'm not sure which exact litoria species it is as there are so many. We have such an issue with declining native frog numbers in Australia - partly due to climate change and fungal issues, and very much due to the invasive cane toad that was introduced here to control a beetle that destroys sugar cane crops. The cane toads kill the native tadpoles, and it has taken many years for a few native predators to work out how to kill the toad without being killed by their poison. What a disaster that toad has been and every year, with climate change heating things up, it marches further and further south.
Another reason for me to rejoice every time a batch of native frogs breed here!
Reminds me to our early school day`s . We collected some frog eggs from the water and did them on school in a glass jar in the window and watch the developping .
