This is my favourite cicada because of the beautiful patterns - ear splitting though! thank you for commenting and even more for asking awesome questions :)
Wow. Fab macro shot! So much detail! Are these cicadas like the ones in the southern US? They come out once every so many years? Fab shot my friend! Big fave.
Cicadas wouldn’t survive long in a European climate so was fascinated to look them up and discover a little about them. Have heard them in films etc., so interesting to see them here. Thank you;-)
@koalagardens He's goregeous and to have a variety! I've never seen them - we don't seem to have them here but they appear to be not for the faint of heart! Much like that jumping, ginormous spider! :)
@elatedpixie@gilbertwood this is exactly how it seems to go - aussies exclaim - oh yes I played with them as a child, and all others go wow how do you live with these critters :) I guess we see and hear them from the very beginning so they are part of our lives and landscape. or maybe we can say aussies are simply not faint of heart hehehe ;) (I would feel totally faint of heart if a bear rushed at me tho!)
