This poinciana tree has been in a bad way since I moved here 10 years ago. I ended up cutting it to ground 5 years ago and discovered it had a borer of some kind had been eating it from the inside out. I thought well that's a kindness to have done this.
A year later it started to sprout and this year for the first time it is flowering!
So wonderful when you can nurture a tree or plant back to life! I had a tiny orchid houseplant that had stopped flowering for 2 years and suddenly last month it bloomed and now has three little orchids.
