@onewing usually I start by taking a photo with lots of bokeh, or of something textured like bark or concrete. I've now got a range of quite different ones - one I created from rain on a window at night, one from some black cardboard with a little water sprayed on it.
Then I take the image and play with the raw image, til I either get lots of detail in it, or maybe take lots of detail out - depending on what I see in it.
I may then play with PS filters, using blurs or artistic effects. There are great tutorials on using PS filters to create textures.
Then I take it into Topaz studio for the final lot of effects, which I am really glad I purchased. I started with a trial and fell in love. You can do so many things in there.
It has taken lots and lots of trial and error. I look back now on some of the first textures I created and liked, and think now, wow they are pretty ordinary. So over time I've refined things a bit I hope.
I still have lots to learn, I see some textures people purchase and don't really know how to create one similar, so yay always more fun play and learning to be had :)
@koalagardens I had to take another look at your gorgeous texture and saw your reply to Babs. I also checked out PS, but did not really find anything useful there. Could you please tell me which tutorial you watched? Do you put them on a transparent layer? You have become a master of this art now and I love what you are doing :-)
fav.
