@marlboromaam yes designed for the vulnerable little lorikeet, but the green snakes took this one over a couple of years ago :) hollows are used by many species so I have 22 nesting boxes strategically placed through the property for the little lorikeet and the squirrel glider who is also vulnerable (and I have squirrel gliders in several boxes)
@koalagardens Interesting. I have had a battle with the squirrels chewing up the openings to my bluebird houses - the bluebirds won't nest in them anymore because the holes are so big... Now I have the newer ones with a metal plate that the squirrels can't chew up. Have not seen a flying squirrel around here in decades, sadly.
@gardencat yep the box is supposed to be for a vulnerable bird species on the property, the little lorikeet. but all in nature are opportunists after all ... they have been living in this box for a couple of years, as they do normally live in hollows being tree snakes 😊
