Fun fact: when Europeans invaded Australia, they discovered our native hop bush and proceeded to make beer from these hops. I found that so interesting as it is not normally used, commercially grown imported hops are used. I didn't know this until it was asked about on my last photo of the hops, but now I know.
I love your gorgeous presentation! This looks so much like the bougainvillea plants that spill over walls in California and Hawaii. Do you think it's the same thing by a different name or entirely different?
@Weezilou definitely not bougainvillea, this is a small shrub, not a vine, and these are hops (seed heads) rather than flowers. it does resemble them a little, I thought it resembles begonias a little too.
@shutterbug49 pretty sure that's correct. the indigenous people did not make alcohol before then. it is one reason (of many complex reasons) that they now have such a huge issue with dependence on it

We lived in Bavaria in Hops country for quite a few years. Pity I did not have a camera then, it is a very beautiful bunch of greenery.
