red belly black snake by koalagardens

red belly black snake

yeah many will go ugh, but these are so important to the eco system. they are venomous, but really are not aggressive to people if left alone. they do actually predate on our highly venomous king brown snakes, so you could say they are great to find. this was just outside my front door and I got this snap, a little video and it was gone in a flash.
Wonderful photo, we’re so big & scary, I think the snakes are more afraid of us.
I’ve seen lots of snakes here, in a flash they’ve gone.

Nice catch. He looks very thick like he has recently had a meal

Yikes! I'm not a fan of snakes. I can see this snake's red belly in the picture!

@beverley365 it's so true - they take off so fast, you have to be very unlucky to get bitten by one and they are in a panic by then!

@rontu really thick, but not a bulge so I was wondering what it ate, another snake?

This is a beautiful snake, and nice to know it's welcome on your property! If people didn't feel squeamish about snakes, they'd learn how lovely they are to stroke and to enjoy their beautiful texturing!

They may be necessary but I wouldn't want to see one at my front door.

Well spotted. I’ve seen a few in my time but without a camera.

Great capture.
November 20th, 2023
Yikes! Well as long as they're not eating any eggs or babies of any declining bird populations - like the black rat snakes are harming our declining bluebirds.

Great to see such fine specimen. We do not have anything like this over here.

I don't know much about snakes. For me, all kinds of snakes are dangerous.

A beautiful snake, impressive too!

@marlboromaam no this is the native snake in its native environment, keeping prey population healthy and strong 😁

Nice capture

Reminds me of our rattlesnake, not in appearance, but in importance to our ecosystem and in not being aggressive.

I didn't know about the king brown predation. I can appreciate the colours of these guys but I'm glad that they live on your side of the country not mine :)

Great photo - but I'm glad it's not at my back door!
