Corvin Street

It's an iconic part of Budapest. There were bloody fights in 1956
Nice pov and architecture :)

I missed your comment about this street being a place of conflict in the Hungarian Uprising, 1956. I was 14/15 and remember clearly this dreadful event. My parents only had radio and I heard reports from the BBC and saw reports in newspapers. I don't think my parents talked about it, they were not really politically aware. My father was a painter (of houses, not artist); my mother had inspected parachutes in WW2. When I was born she was a mother and housewife. But the Hungarian Uprising is deeply etched in me - I still feel emotional about it now. I identified very much with the 'revolutionaries' - anti-Soviet. I was very sad when Russian tanks invaded Hungary, and I saw photos of them on the streets of Budapest. I am proud that I remembered the name of Imre Nagy after all these years. Terrible events, unforgivable execution. The Prague Spring and Alexander Dubcek reminded me again of these times in 1968. I was sad that the Western nations, NATO etc never helped Hungary or Czechoslovakia at these tumultuous times, and Soviet Russia was allowed to crush these uprisings. I am pleased that now life is more civilised and democratic for your people (though not perfect!) I enjoy your photos, love seeing the places you show. Best wishes from us both, Ivan & Tina. (I am fully English btw, just that my mother liked the name 'Ivan'. :) )

@ivan Dear Ivan and Tina!
Thanks for the touching thoughts.
I would also write more about my personal experiences,
but the lack of English knowledge does not allow this.
Unfortunately, translation from Hungarian to English does not give my thoughts exactly.
Once again, thank you!
