Polar Vortex

It was COLD out today!! About -12 degrees C for my photo walk in Confederation Park. I should have worn my long johns... Lows of -20 degrees C the next few nights... Brrrrrr.

Why so cold so early?? Here is CTV News' explanation:
"The Weather experts say Typhoon Nuri is the main culprit behind the big chill, as the tropical storm's presence over Alaska is forcing a cyclone of cold Arctic air to shift south in a "polar vortex" effect.

The polar vortex is a large pocket of intense cold air that typically sits over the North Pole. However, weather patterns occasionally shift that pocket south, resulting in a sharp, prolonged dip in temperature over the area affected."

Lucky us.

Holy moly, that cold already?! Goergeous, though, that snow.

It is frigid out there and I think it is time to bust out the Eddie Bauer Down filled parka. Lovely shot - your fingers must have been pretty cold! That's a fair dump of snow - likely headed our way.
