Anhinga & Snowy Egret by kvphoto

Anhinga & Snowy Egret

Not the prettiest setting but I enjoyed seeing these two birds chilling out together. The anhingas seemed to like to hang out at the water inlets as I spotted other ones who had their wings stretched out like this one does.
Very nice contrast in these birds.

Beautifully exposed both dark and light. A very cool shot!
Cormorants hang about with their wings out like that too. Maybe it's bird yoga!

@ljmanning @kvphoto I have heard they spread their wings like that because they dive deep for food. To dive deep their feathers don’t hold air, so they spread them to dry the feathers and to rid parasites.

Cool capture. The cormorants and egrets seem to like to hang out together here too. I like to watch them when they're drying their wings.
