Not the prettiest setting but I enjoyed seeing these two birds chilling out together. The anhingas seemed to like to hang out at the water inlets as I spotted other ones who had their wings stretched out like this one does.
@ljmanning@kvphoto I have heard they spread their wings like that because they dive deep for food. To dive deep their feathers don’t hold air, so they spread them to dry the feathers and to rid parasites.
Cormorants hang about with their wings out like that too. Maybe it's bird yoga!
