Steve is watching others cross the Tallulah River ahead of us... 100 permits per day are granted to tour the gorge floor and rock hop to Sliding Rock. When we started out on this journey I thought this crossing would be the scariest moment and while it was scary there were more frightening things yet to come.
Steve & Joyce were so awesome to hike with... Steve went first and often came back to help his wife Joyce and I... both of them are awesome hiking companions.
Looks like a beautiful spot to hike. The scariest hike I ever did was Angels Landing in Zion. At one point we had to take our leg around a very large boulder and we were about 1000 feet up. I almost couldn’t do it. Glad I did view at the top was spectacular.
I love this image for the story it shows and the scene as well. Sounds like a fantastic experience overall. I'm heavily in the midst of reading reading reading as a Kirkus Prize judge and thinking that maybe my career as a librarian is coming to a close . . . maybe some hiking in the USA ahead for me in the future! (I've never really gone hiking in the US, only in Germany and Japan!)
@jyokota it was an amazing adrenaline rush… I’m training now for my rim to rim Grand Canyon hike in late October… I’m very excited about the trip. Enjoy your award reading… you will enjoy retirement too when you are ready… I still read a lot but it is what I choose… I like that.
@shutterbug49 we hiked Angel’s Landing years ago… I remember hanging onto that chain on the narrow part of the trail where you cross the rocks… awesome memories of that hike too.
@365projectorgheatherb so true Heather… thanks for your comment.
@wakelys thanks Susan… it is a beautiful place… thrilling when they do whitewater releases in the fall… I’ve gone to watch the daring ones in kayaks.
@joansmor thanks Joan.
@bkbinthecity thanks Brian… it is at that!
@milaniet thanks Melanie… gorgeous but that water is moving very fast… so definitely scary.
@dutchothotmailcom thanks Esther… the hike is rated as difficult and I’d have to agree.
@thewatersphotos thanks Gary… yes… and one more on the way… I have a rim to rim Grand Canyon hike in late October to look forward to.
@jgpittenger thanks Jane,
