Today we took possession of our waterfront property. There is a 55 year old house in need of a wrecking ball and a 1000 sq boat house that I'm in love with. When we arrived to meet the realtor and get the keys there were several vehicles on the property near the beach. When they started to leave, one of the people stopped. It was the daughter of the owner (94 year old lady). She said they had been saying good bye to the property and toasting her dad who died a couple of years ago at 97. He built the boat house and loved the land. After everyone left, my parents, son and I (unfortunately my husband was out of province working) opened the boathouse to explore. We found this inside... a chair left by the wood stove along with some flowers and the bottle of champagne they had all shared. It made me cry!! I just know this place is for us!!
How exciting and wonderful for you.
I gotta admit, i teared up on your story. Is there any way you can give the family this photo (and the collage)? So serene and poignant.
Lovely intro, really did bring a tear to my eye. Beautifully captured. I wonder if there is anyway you can pass along a copy of your photo to the family? I think it would be so amazing if you could, they would treasure it forever.
What a beutiful but sad story, bought a tear to my eye as well ....this is a wonderful shot...its like they have said their goodbyes and let it go and now its welcoming your family....congratulations on your new home!!
A very moving occasion captured so beautifully by you. I applaud your passing the shots on to the previous owners. I'm sure they'll treasure them. It's such a hard thing to let go of a place where the memories have been so real.
This is just gorgeous. Congratulations. What a wonderful narrative. What part of the world do you live in? It looks like a warm northern hemisphere location.
Fantastic! I love how they all came together to leave together. It's a sacred space that you'll cherish. Congratulations and a whopper of a shot/story.
