THANK YOU all so much for your comments and fav's on yesterday's SPLASH and NO DIVING shots. I am so glad you liked them! I'm totally behind on my commenting (watching swimming all day) but I promise to catch up soon.
Day Two of the Vancouver Island Regionals are over and with it comes more swimming photos (I hope you don't mind). This ten year is having an amazing meet and finished second in her 200 Individual medley swim in finals tonight. The IM is composed of 50m (back & forth) butterfly, 50m back, 50 breaststroke and finally 50m freestyle. I should add that her mother is the tall lady in the white shirt who was volunteering as the stroke & turn judge in the background. I just love the way she is watching her from a distance.
My kids did well too. Gage got 2 golds and 2 bronze medals today in his four swims. Kennedy had two swims and got two personal best times and moved up from 6th to 4th in 200 breast final tonight.
Incredible capture Kim! I love her reflection in the water! Amazing action shot :) and that is very sweet with her mom in the background. Her mother will LOVE this one :) stunning shot!
This is a fantastic capture. May I ask what lens you used and what iso, aperture and shutter speed. My good friend would like to get some swimming photos of her children and she is having a hard time. Thanks! Congrats to your kids!
@jenniferruge I'm going from memory because I'm working on my iPad at the moment but my general rule is iso high (1500-3000), f2.8, and shutter at 1/400. I have two lenses I use at the pool 24-70 f2.8 (used for all these recent ones) and my 70-200 f2.8. I'm lucky that my camera Nikon d800, works well with high ISO and shots big files so I can crop and still have decent images. I always shot in raw so I can touch up the white balance after the fact. Lighting in pools is generally awful and really messes with skin tones.
