Ball of Wood by kwind

Ball of Wood

This ball of wood stands about 45 cm (1.5 ft.) tall. It's made of small pieces of wood attached to a wire frame. I bought it the other day thinking it would be a neat decorative piece for the new house. It looked very different straight out of the camera. Here's the BEFORE version: http://365project.org/kwind/miscellaneous/2013-03-05

Thank you for all your well wishes yesterday and recent comments and fav's. My cold is still here but I'm surviving and my rainbow and tool bench shots were both on the PP at the same time today.

Here's another construction related shot in my "extra shots" album:

The dramatic lighting really brings out the wonderful shapes and textures. So glad you gave us a size reference -- I would have guessed the ball to be much smaller.

@pflaume @wendyhgill @sjwyatt30 Thanks, you'd be shocked if you saw the original. You could see the hardwood floor underneath and it was the wrong tones. I adjusted the saturation, contrast, exposure and then darkened the ground and lightened the wood. Suddenly the light cheerful background was black.

This is definitely better than the original! I mean the original photo is interesting in itself, but you're right about the wooden floor. Besides, the shadows here just add so much drama and character to this b&w beauty. :)
