Can you guess what this is? Not at all the shot I was planning. I'm 3 hours from home in Victoria for a swim meet. I left the kids at the pool at 8:30am this morning to visit three different lighting stores. Then I hit the appliance store and paid for my new range. Next was a browse through a furniture store for the super rich. Found several lovely pieces but until I win the lottery, the $2500 bookshelf I liked will have to remain in their building a little longer. Left there and made it to the pool seconds after my daughter dove in to start her 200 back in which she got a best time! Unfortunately I missed both of their first races (mom of the year award will have to wait). Watched both kids swim two races for an hour and a half and then dragged them back to the lighting store for their opinion (which took milliseconds and lacked the enthusiasm I was looking for). I rewarded them with ice cream which they ate in the car while I looked at much more reasonablely priced furniture until they texted to see if I'd been abducted. Back to the hotel we went for an hour before they had to return to the pool for warm up. I decided I'd go in search of tulips before the races began so I went for a lovely drive. The weather was gorgeous and I was meandering down lonely country roads feeling quite relaxed and calm. That was until my daugter texted to say she's left her racing suit in the hotel room. So I kicked it into race car mode and flew back with 3 mins to spare (maybe I will get mom of the year award after all). Needless to say I did not get a single shot of a tulip or anything else up until this point. I did notice some tulips outside the pool though so out I ran and took four shots before heading back in to watch both kids do a relay and my son swim three finals. He managed to get his first eleven year old AAA long course time as well as break a meet and club record! He was happy! 8:15pm we left the pool and picked up the pizza I'd ordered for dinner. I thought I'd transfer my tulip shots to my iPad and go to bed. Well, no such luck because the particular memory card I was using is not readable by the iPad (I had forgotten to switch it out)!! So... I put in the readable one and thought, "what the #*%! am I going to shoot now??" This is it! Did you figure it out? It's the cord from the bathroom's built in blowdryer!! Now that I've written this short novel, I must go to sleep as the wake call is coming at 6:30am. Good night all. I'll try to comment tomorrow.
You certainly had a fun filled day. Congrats to your son for his outstanding effort and your daughter also. Good luck furniture shopping and enjoy Victoria, it is a beautiful city.
For me a good morning, but you goodnight:)One day your children will read this and give you the mother of the year award:)I think there is a more important assessment of their!Sorry for bad English:(, I hope you understand me!
Wowzer!!! Busy day or what?!! I'd guessed phone cord so not far off. Great about the swimming though, they've done so well. Good luck getting the tulips for tomorrow! :-)
Wow, u are gifted to make a dryer cord look so beautiful! You must be so proud of your swimmers! My son broke a pool record at age 11 as well! :) baseball season has started and I am happy about that. Do u ever get a little tired of long hours at the pool?
@elizabeth264 I definitely get tired from the LONG hours watching but I've been disappearing whenever I can to go do house stuff. I'm usually taking photos but I'm just not into it this weekend.
Well, I think you are eligible for Mom of the Year! Getting them to an all day swim meet, then trying to get some chores and shopping done and they still got ice cream! Sounds like a busy bit great day! Loved your novel! And the shot you ended up with.
What a day! The bit about shopping sounded cool and I think your super-mum award is just in the wings waiting for them to remember to award it to you! Cheer them on for us too! (Almost forgot - I thought it was a phone lead but I was close, it looks great).
@judis No to Butchart Gardens. We went at Christmas and it was beautiful. I drove right by the entrance during my "drive" and it looked amazing. I went years ago during the spring and loved it because the place was full of tulips, which are my favourite!!
