Wake Boarding by kwind

Wake Boarding

We went to a beach 10 minutes from our house... Saratoga Beach. This is my pathetic attempt at panning. I totally understand the concept in theory but can never seem to get the subject in total focus! Oh well, I still liked the blurry effect.

Here's another shot from today: http://365project.org/kwind/extra-shots/2013-07-16
Awesome

Looks good to me! Especially the blurred person behind and the legs while keeping the body in focus.

Good enough! It is tricky!

Looks good to me too! I tried panning once, not easy!

He got plenty of exercise too! It either works or it doesnt but the effect is still good!

I took my "at the time" 16 year old niece and 13 year old nephew to the beach last summer. They did this. And this pic pretty much capture the movement and excitement!

Fab motion blur ...... have not tried panning yet - its looks tough! :)

Fun shot! Have you tried pre-focussing on manual focus? I tried it at a track day and it sort of worked. ;)

I love the determined look plus running action - reminds me of the six million dollar man somehow!

@humphreyhippo I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the tip!

@filsie65 I remember that show!! That's from a few years ago!!
July 17th, 2013
@kwind My grandmother told me about it...............................................!!
July 17th, 2013
@filsie65 Ha ha!!!
July 17th, 2013
@kwind It also tends to be easier the further away you are - or that's been my experience. :)

@humphreyhippo I was RIGHT there so I'll step back next time. Thx

Having tried this last week, I know how difficult it is and this looks like a really good result. Love that the top half of him is in focus while you can see the motion in his legs.

I think this is pretty cool shot, lovr the motion blur!
July 18th, 2013
i like it too!! it does show movement and you can still see the subject. very nice!
July 18th, 2013
You've got it! I think it's pretty good.
July 18th, 2013
Cool effect!
July 18th, 2013
Love the blur effect...well done!

I love the motion and colors. Unlike a track or road, skim boarders don't run by and ump on in exactly the same place. It makes panning much more hit or miss. But out of a 1000 shots if you get one it's gold.

I like the motion and colors - definitely not pathetic attempt!!!!

Love it, better than I could do at panning. Love the sense of speed.
