My husband's "must have" for the new house was a surveillance system. We live in a relatively crime free town but he's away lots and now via our "devices" he can see the property from anywhere in the world. There's four cameras that show us each side of the house. Here's the back patio view on my iPhone and iPad.
@maggiemae The cameras run off power. They might have back up batteries though.
@yellowdog@nicolecampbell Yes, he can see us now. We've done the wave thing already and he texted while I was cutting the grass as he could see it happening. I like that I can lay in bed with the ipad and see around if I hear a strange noise.
That is cool and funny that he can say "hey you missed a corner" :) or that you can text him and say check camera 2 and be waving at him. I would probably always be found out on that deck.
@kaesebiscuit No offence taken. I'm not totally used to it either. We're the only ones who Have access to the view which basically means my husband because i keep forgetting its even there. Ha ha. I think my husband just likes to be able to check on us from afar.
Such a cool shot. I think being able to check on things when you're away is FABULOUS--as I'm writing this from Texas and wonder how my house is doing ; ) In a storm, to know everything is okay would be very reassuring.
I spent 27 years in security surveillance, and am glad to be retired from it. Pretty much saw it all.... all I can say is better to be safe than sorry. This is wonderfully presented.

Yeah, well, sorry, I'm just weird, no offence intended.
