Yesterday Gage had an endoscopy and colonoscopy which determined that he does, as suspected, have ulcerative colitis. He was such a brave boy and went 24 hours without solid food and got probed in both ends. It broke my heart to see him so scared but I was able to stay with him until he fell asleep. We drove home from Vancouver last night and this morning it took his first dose of medicine. He went to soccer today and is feeling pretty good. The doctors said that he should be symptom free in 4-5 days. Thanks for all your good wishes. There is still going to be tough days, but I'm confident I'll get my kid back soon and life will return to normal.
I am glad that they found out what the problem is! There is much hope out there for people suffering from this. I should know since I too have a similar condition! Hope the med work fast and he gets feeling much better soon!
a sweet shot of you two. So happy to hear that they have a diagnosis and already have him on his way to feeling good again! A tough thing to get him through, but you are doing a great job!
That would have been a tough thing to go through and I'm glad he made it through so bravely! Great that he's getting back into soccer and I hope the road to recovery goes smoothly :)
Oh my goodness, happy to know that these pictures represent just going for the diagnosis exams, and that now Gage can be treated and he is on his feet again, even going to soccer. I'm sure it was though for him and for you.
Oh my poor Gagel! So pleased you have a diagnosis now and that he can be treated! Great to hear he has been playing soccer! It must have been such a difficult time for you all!
What a brave boy! Both my husband and I have had both scopes done so know what it's like. My husband has ulcerative colitis too (which is part of the autoimmune liver disease he has). Hope Gage is feeling much better soon and that the colitis can be controlled!
Those times are never easy. So glad you could be with him. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know you are all looking forward to him being symptom free.
Ah I saw tomorrows before todays if you know what I mean! So glad things are going well & Gage should be symptom free & back to his young life so quickly. looking at these photos brings it home how vulnerable the human body can be........hooray for modern medicine & staff to see it carried out.
The poor little thing. It is heart breaking to see them like this. He was so very brave and I wish him a speedy recovery. I hope you are coping okay, it is always just as tough on the parents.
