I bought myself a focusing rail for my new macro lens today and I used the live view feature so I could see what I was focusing on better. Not the most exciting shot but it's from today. These are double stuffed Oreos that my husband just HAD to have!
I have wondered what the rail is needed for. And would it work for bug macros. I have to shoot them "on the go" and all from different angles as it moves so I never us a tripod or rails. These cookies look GREAT
what do you mean not the most exciting! it's oreos!!!! got milk? :-) are these the mini ones or the regular ones? anyhow, i love oreos! nice macro shot!
Mmmm, pass the high fructose corn syrup, please!! Despite the junk in them, they sure are yummy dunked in milk or crushed up in my ice cream. Love em! Super shot!
I could hurt myself eating oreos dunked in hot coffee!!! Warm oreos are the best!! Great fcous and details!!! I never heard of a focusing rail before and had to look it up. Wouldn't a really good tri-pod do the same thing? The one I have has a rotating head and levels to make sure my angel is straight and things to lock it in place. Now ask me if I use it? LOL LOL Not yet!!!! I also have one that is small for things on the ground, it will lay flat on the ground and hold your camera in place. Haven't used that one either!!! I'm still doing everything hand held. Do love this shot and the rail must be doing it's job!!! FAV!
@espyetta@cashew It's supposed to allow for tiny adjustments without having to move the whole tripod. It seemed to work well but is definitely for stationary shots. I don't think it would help with moving bugs.
So intriguing to see the details. What is a focusing rail? @pamknowler I've never heard of one, and if it helps with focus, that would be terrific to have!
@taffy You can make minute adjustments when doing macro shots. Only stationary shots though. If you do lots of macro it would be good but if you only do one now and then like me I can't be bothered to get it out and set it up!! That's me lazy!! LOL!!
I think it is against 365 Project rules to post food, particularly cookies that can cause people to want to go on a binge! Enjoying your macro pictures.
@eyeamlisa Yes, I'm loving the new lens.
