Another shot from yesterday's photo shoot with my four year old niece, Malone. She's wearing my boots but I thought it would make a cute Hunter Boots ad! She's so cute! Thanks for all your comments and fav's on her other shot. Both were taken on my patio. It was quite foggy but bright at the same time which created the white background. I upped the exposure only a little to give this effect.
I'm behind on commenting today. My sister and I took the kids to Nanaimo (1.5 hours away) where we attempted to do a little shopping (I forgot how tricky it is to do with little ones) and we had lunch with a high school friend we've known for close to 40 years (wow, that sounds crazy!). We came home and had dinner at my parents. As we were all sitting at the dining room table when the room began to SHAKE! There was a 4.8 magnitude quake. Luckily it was very short lived! I really dislike earthquakes and I'm feeling rather anxious at the moment!!
This is really faVulous with a capital V!!! Does look like a slick magazine ad for sure! HUGE FAV. Earthquake? Wow...we are in California and hoping we don't have one while we are down here. Jeepers!
So very sorry about the quake... sounds very distressing. This is a terrific shot and would look great as an ad. Hunter Boots should be "hunting" you down. :)
A+ for Adorable! You most obviously had an excellent lighting situation, and the three elements in the picture are a delightful statement about what little girls are about these days! ...Nanaimo...that certainly gives a sense of place (to me) as to where you're located! I hope you had a wonderful time before the Earthquake Encounter! We're certainly familiar with them down here. While I wouldn't want to be caught in the epicenter, if no one is hurt and nothing breaks (which is most typical), I find them to be "an interesting ride"...
@seejillrun Hi Jill. The background was mainly luck. My niece is standing on the edge of our gray concrete patio. The background is sky and ocean. It was a bright, yet foggy day and the light was all coming from behind her. I'm honestly not sure how it all happened. The shot looked almost like this but I did increase the contrast and saturation afterwards.
@jamibann You must have been writing while I was explaining. The background was luck. I'm not sure I could do it again. It was very bright out with fog and the ocean as the background. I got low so you couldn't see any grass on the edge of the patio. The concrete was shiny from the misty rain and somehow just blended into the sky. My manual settings overexposed things so I upped the contrast and saturation afterwards so the colours stood out more.
Beautiful shot, and I have really enjoyed all the other takes you did on this theme!! She is very cute, and a wonderful model.
Sorry about the earthquake....not fun to feel the ground move under your feet. Hope everything is OK. I did not realize you guys were on a faultline, too...
Just too cute, but I do miss her adorable face and little puggy tummy in the photo!!! Love how everything matches and how lucky to have a model that cooperates with you!!! Love this as well as the other photo!! FAV!
I lived in Alaska and we had "tremors" all the time!! A 4.8 is just a little more than a tremor though!!
