Family Christmas Photo by kwind

Family Christmas Photo

My friend asked me to take some shots that she could use in her Christmas cards. We had planned a lovely forest scene with intense texture and colour but then a hurricane appeared today - it's CRAZY outside. So plan B happened. We carried a few decorations into the back corner of our local mall and did this instead. I played around with PicMonkey to add the words, frame and bokeh. I'm not sure about the bokeh layer but there's something about it I like. What are your thoughts??
nice setup . Not sure about the bokeh . Can you make it snow? love all the trees. Nice smiles

Awesome photo shoot Kim!

@lesip I tried the snow option but it just seemed odd given that we were inside. The placement of some of the circles bothers me a bit.

totally lovely!

Lovely family shot. I am not a big fan of bokeh, so I would probably prefer it without. Maybe show them both versions and let them decide.

This is very creative.

I so like the brick wall! Backs against a brick wall - no where to run! Lovely family shot!

It is a lovely portrait but I am not sure about the bokeh, I don't think it works

It's beautiful for a Christmas card photo. I bet the family was thrilled with this.. I LIKE all the "playing around" you did with it.... except for the bokeh.. I would have left it out. I don't think it really adds anything to the photo, maybe even distracts some from the rest of it.

Great for the holiday season!

Well I love this....original, querky, fun & happy! I wish I hah a photo, like this when my family were young! Lovely Kim.

I like the setup and the composition. I don't mind some of the bokeh, as it feels festive to me, but might like some of it smaller (especially towards the inside, where the family is sitting) and circles placed more on the outside, not obscuring the family (if that is an editing choice available to you). Someone had a good idea of letting the family choose after showing them some options. I like the hats! :)

This is a fabulous shot and it's brilliant for the cards. I happen to really like the bokeh, the only thing I would do is mask it out slightly over your friend's beautiful family. Clever idea going indoors.

nice family photo and love the bokeh

Creative set you came up with in Plan B. I like the bokeh - it adds a magical feel. I second the suggestion to fade it where it's over faces tho.

This is lovely and creative! Well done.

Wonderful family capture. I like the bokeh, but, made a little less where the family is.

Beautiful family photo

I like the bokeh as it makes it feel like the family is inside a snowglobe!! Playing with the size and frequency could make a difference and let the family appear more vibrant, but frankly for a holiday effect I think it is pretty effective. Show them some versions and let them pick....they will love their family shot, regardless!

I like the bokeh. It gives the photo a soft xmas look.
