Today marks the start of my 6th year on 365! Wow... time flies!!
This mile long Tree Tunnel is a beautiful canopy of Eucalyptus trees that line Maliuhi Road on Kaua'i. It is believed that the original 500 trees were planted in 1911 as a gift to the community from Pineapple Baron Walter McBryde.
The beautiful trees were leftover from a large landscape project of his estate home, now the grounds of the Kukuiolono Park and Golf Course. The winds that topped 225 mph during Huricane Iniki stripped these trees down to bare branches, but have made a nice recovery and picturesque tunnel of trees.

Congratulations! 5 years, oh my. That is a terrific accomplishment, I know you have to be very proud! Of course this photo is wonderful, it is amazing how trees recover after a major storm or bad fire.

Congrats on 5 years! I started in 2012, but did not post daily. However, this year so far, I have posted a daily picture on the correct date. So, sometimes, I post objects from my house. :)
Our first trip to Kauai was the year following Iniki when resorts were trying to lure vacationers back to the island. Even those 12 months later it was a shock to see the bare trees (Think Norfolk pine looking like a bristle brush!) and condos with blown out windows and devastated interiors that people walked away from! We saw a changed and recovered island when we were there last a few years ago, but that hurricane really rocked folks back on their heels!
