The fête nationale was celebrated today in the Place de la République, Laroque-des-Albères. The only American in attendence here was John, the flag-bearer stood next to the policeman. I knew he had served in Vietnam with the US Army, but did not know he was a member of the Veterans Association. I noticed he was the only veteran wearing a ponytail.
