This is Jules, Victor and Perrine taking delivery of their new Citroen Ami, 'ami' being French for 'friend'. It's not a car. Officialy it is a quadricycle, so can be driven by anybody 14 or over, even without a licence. It is electric and only costs 6000€. It has a plastic body on a metal chassis, two seats, and to keep manufacturing costs down. the panels at front and back and each side are identical. It is built in Morocco. These kids are 14 to 16 and their parents thought this would be safer than the scooters and motos that would previously have been the choice for teenage transport. It's light years cheaper than a Tesla, but is it cooler ? I applied my standard coolness test - which one would John Lennon have chosen to drive ?
This name has long been known. The Citroën Ami was a four-door, first-drive family car manufactured and marketed by Citroën between 1961 and 1978. This one is smaller but it seems much safer than a scooter.
Nice shot
At that price I would have one for all the local trips I do in the car and feel guilty about. As England does not even allow electric scooters, the chance of using one of these is zero.
Nice shot
