Cooking interrupted

Preparing a ragout of pork and vegetables for the crock-pot, I got distracted by the photo possibilities of this parsnip. So we will be eating a bit later than usual tonight.

The French word for parsnip is panais. It is not a well-known vegetable here in the South. The first time I bought one at a supermarket, the cashier held it aloft and asked if anybody in the queue knew what it was called, so she could choose the correct price. Nobody knew !
I love this close-up. It speaks so much to me. I'm French so I love food and I love cooking and in photography close-ups are my favorite. Well done!
