Deere on Beach by lauriehiggins

Deere on Beach

This isn't the kind of deer I would have loved to have taken a photo of at the beach today, but you take what you can get some days. This bulldozer was adding sand to an eroded part of Breakwater Beach in Brewster.
Anything to care for the beaches is good .... nice colours and comp. Hope you got a few hard copies of that awesome article!!! Cool that there were so many of your pics included with the column.

Wonderful! Breakwater looked terrible last time I was there. I'm glad someone is finally fixing the erosion.

@paulaag @pwallis @lorihiro Thank you so much for your kind words on my article! It was so much fun to write, but so hard to keep to the word count. I could have written twice as much. It felt like I just nicked the surface.

@lauriehiggins oooh the word count! That's why you didn't use my name in there - you must have had to cut it out due to word count! (Just teasing - it really was a fab article and I agree 100% with your feelings on 365 and the way it's impacted your life:)

A wonderful photo Laurie. I assume they do this every year?

Wonderful capture

@digitalrn It's more of a periodical as needed thing. The man operating this big machine said the homeowner paid for it. Our towns are a bit short on cash these days. Several local beaches have had part of their parking lots crumble in storms, and they still have not been repaired.

That extra "e" makes all the difference in the composition of the photo, but it's still a very cool capture.

I love tractors.. and this one is awesome.. I would kill to have that for a month.. what I could do with that around here... the light is perfect on the shiney orange babe.. and the clouds behind are lovely.

I love the colors and the lighting. Your article was fantastic. I like how you emphasized the friendship part. Very nice.

it seems we have to manage our coasts everywhere in the world
November 12th, 2011
Not an elegant Deere indeed. Thanks for your article too, wonderful x

I love the way this turned out--I thought for a moment that the Deere driver had driven up to the beach for a break. The title is perfect, lol
November 12th, 2011
Ah it works,I like how it turned out. A reality shot.

Nice shot of the Deere! Nice to see that they're doing what they can to keep up with the erosion. It's amazing how much the Cape's coastline changes from year to year and just how much of it we lose.

Great article on 365. The thoughts of many, thank you.

Great capture!
November 12th, 2011
i love this and I need to read your article - - - tell me how please.
November 13th, 2011
That's a cool picture...you never think about this kind of thing and then when you hear about it, you think, Duh, of course there has to be some sort of up-keep. Great capture. It's probably something you see often enough that those of us that are land-locked never think of. The light on this is great...wasn't it just a beautiful bright blustery day today?
November 13th, 2011
Good work, boring picture.... Zzzzz....

Come on, you can do better than that!
November 13th, 2011
I have seen this done two ways. Like this and then a dredger out in the water pumping sand through a long pipe. It is amazing
November 13th, 2011
Well, that's lovely shot of a Deere! You captured it at just the right time!
