Oh Christmas Tree by lauriehiggins

Oh Christmas Tree

Every year on our way home from Thanksgiving at my parents' house in Vermont we stop at our favorite Christmas tree farm and cut down our own Christmas tree....or rather I pick out the fattest tree in the most obscure and furthest corner of the farm (cause that's where the big ones are) and Steve cuts it down. This one seems a bit more ridiculous than usual...
wow!! that is going to be quite a handfull for Steve and the Pup to manage. Definitely looking forward to seeing the photos of this one all set up! Good Luck Steve.

Glad I magnified...next to the giant tree, I thought your dachshund was a rusty colored leaf. LOL Great photo! We never get a live tree...I am too paranoid of fire, plus we don't feel like decorating a giant cat scratching post, which would be the end result. We get a tiny boring fake one. Sophie is cool with it because she LOVES the cats, so it's all good. Looking forward to seeing your tree all done up!

@stepheesue @angievega @digitalrn @kynosmom - thank you so much for your comments. We don't actually decorate the tree for at least another couple of weeks, but I figure it's still fresher than the ones at the stand.

@5unflow3r @nikkers - I have four kids, all almost grown or grown. It takes the biggest bushiest tree ever to include all their special handmade ornaments over the years. Go real! You won't regret it.

@pwallis The thing that made me choose this shot is the girth of the cut tree compared to my husband's height and the size of our little dog. Goofy as all get out.

Great tree tradition! This one is a beauty. Will be watching for photo updates as it gets decorated...

This tree is a beauty! We wait to see it all Blinged out! :-)

Awesome! We got our tree today too! :)

Fabulous, my partner's aunt and uncle had a Christmas tree farm.

Cool shot. Brings back memories. For years and well past the kids leaving the house, that was our family tradition. I loved having the kids stand next to a good tree while you looked for a better one and then sawing it down together. Thanks.

Okay - now you have lost your mind! That will never fit in your living room! Do you need me to make you more decorations? Nice capture of making the sadness of leaving into something fun!

wow big tree:) shotvery festive
November 28th, 2011
Awesome. Can't wait to see it. We cut one once that really didn't fit in the door. When you're outside, it's hard to judge how big it really is. We just cut a little off the bottom. No prob.

Fabulous shot Laurie - I love it!

From the way your dog is out in front with the leash, it almost looks as if he's pulling the tree...kind of like the Grinch and the little dog. That is one ginormous tree! Beautiful. I will be getting one of those, hopefully next weekend.

that is one fat tree base!

Looks like a beautiful place! The tree is beautiful and looks huge! Great capture and what a nice tradition!

@aj1268 Paula, while we were there I had the exact same thought at a different moment! Sadie looked just like the Grinch's long suffering dog!

hi there Steve...love that you cut down your tree...he is quite handy that hubby of yours... :)

Great shot. Love little Sadie there on the side. And that tree is nearly as wide as Steve is tall. Good luck getting it in the house.
