I took a walk at the Goose Pond Conservation in Chatham on this gloomy afternoon. Two years ago I spent several hours walking on top of this pond, taking photos and learning how to ice fish for a story I wrote about ice fishing. This winter the ice fishermen are out of luck, since there has barely been a skim of ice this year. Walking alongside the shore of this pond was alot less nerve wracking than walking on creaking ice.
Like your commentary. I will share that I walked on some rather thin ice yesterday covering a story about the firefighters ice rescue training. I was given a life jacket and helmet and the guy in charge stayed pretty close by. I figured I was pretty safe with all those firefighters with their rescue equipment close by! Wouldn't have wanted to get my camera wet though. Haha...
@kalexa Kalexa, your story both scared me and made me laugh. The ice fishermen were pretty nonchallant about the cracking ice, which they showed me was very thick. But I was worried about my camera too! All I could think was, "I can not afford to replace this camera," not "I could drown."
