I spent the afternoon with my son at the doctor's office where he had an EKG. It was fine, but he's been having weird heart symptoms and his heart rate and BP were elevated. So up next: blood tests and an echocardiogram. When we got home, he and I played around with some of the new filters I bought this week for my 50 mm lens. This was his favorite shot.
Thank you so much for all your comments, faves, support and friendship. I've had to work four out of the past five nights this week and I'm woefully behind in checking out all your awesome photos. I'm looking forward to catching up this weekend.
Awesome shot!!! Love the dof here! I need to get me some filters too! I have been dying to take some slow shutter speed shots of waterfalls!
I sure hoe your son is ok and the tests reveal what may be causing his symptoms. I know the waiting game can be difficult.
We're still in the testing stage and I'm not sure what to think. We went in as a walk-in but Bob called Barry in on it for a consult. I'm trying to be thankful that the doctors at BMA are being so thorough, but it also kind of freaks me out because of Steve's heart defect and open heart surgery. And yes, this is the 50 mm lens, taken at 5:30 p.m. with natural light from the lamp. Tommy was fascinated by the new filters, so I took test photos with all three.
@lauriehiggins oh sorry to hear about family heart problems, hope Steve is well now and hope Tommy was just very nervous which is enough to increase his HR and BP. Thinking of you xxx
Wow! That is a little scary! I hope everything is ok, Laurie!! I love the lighting and focus in this shot! Cant wait to see some shots with your new filters!
Fantastic shot! The DOF is perfect! I'm sorry to hear your son's been having such odd symptoms. I hope they're able to figure out the cause and get him all fixed up soon.
what a great shot Laurie. How nice that he is interested as well. As others have mentioned, the DOF on this is terrific. I hope all goes well with your son.
Great shot, Laurie. I have been wanting to get some filters myself but just haven't. What ones did you get? I am sorry to hear about your son's heart issues. I am sending prayers your way for him and you all!
Love the focus on the lens and his hands, with him obscured in the background. Very nicely done. I hope everything's okay with Tommy. I'll keep him in my thoughts and prayers.
this image is so amazing- the light and focus are just completely captivating. I'm so sorry for what you guys are going thru. I am sure he will be okay but I hope the road from worry to okay is a short one. xo
this is really cool - love the focus - hope you find out what is up with him soon. I went through a weird irregular heartbeat thing when I was 17...the docs never found anything and I grew out of it! Hope it's something simple for him!
this is a very cool shot! i hope you like your new filters:)
laurie, i pray that all will be OK with you son, and i'm sure it will be. I know you must be worried sick. you will be in my thoughts!!
Really great! Love the lighting, dof and composition. I also love his glasses! I hope everything is okay with your son! Glad you got to share a nice moment with him to capture this shot.
@espyetta Filters seem so much easier than lenses. You just screw them on your existing lens. I need to keep notes, though, because I have no idea which lens I used for this photo.
hope your son is doing well Laurie
I love this shot
gotta love the 50mm!! what kind of filters did you buy? I just have a standard UV filter to protect it more than anything else
