@beryl many thanks, yes I noticed this morning that there are lots coming out now, maybe because we are slightly milder and more advanced down here in deepest Dorset!
@happysnaps many thanks, the other title is ament it is a slim cylindrical flower cluster borne by many deciduous trees such as salix, hazel, oak, birch etc.
