@beryl many thanks, I imagine they use their other senses such as can be seen on Winterwatch from Arne this week with birds delving through the mud in Poole Harbour. Apparently a dogs eyesight is not as sharp as ours but their sense of smell and hearing way exceed ours. By the way I was born in Newport down in South East Wales
