Delanys Hut by leggzy

Delanys Hut

Another hut from our visit to the Snowy's region.

The original hut was built somewhere between 1905 & 1910 by James Delany - an Irishman who came to Australia in 1846. The hut was rebuilt after bushfires in 2003 by the volunteers & the Delany family.

It is another hut that is accessible at any time, but is mostly used by skiers, hikers etc who get caught out in bad weather & are in need of shelter.
A lovely rustic little cabin :)

What a fabulous little place and very welcome if you're stuck in bad weather, I am sure! Is that a fireplace on the side with the chimney? At first I thought it was a smokehouse.....

Lovely hut. So glad to hear it was rebuilt. It would be sad to see history disappear altogether.

I think I need to take a trip to the snowy region and spend some time there walking. This is lovely.
