Man and Beast

After a movie in Frederick this afternoon I headed downtown for a picture. While I've walked the canal a few times and some how I missed this water fountain. What's so special about these fountains?
Well, how often do you see a fountain for dogs. The little foot pedal is a paw and there's a cute dog face behind it. This fountain shows a 12 ft monument that once stood not far from here in 1911. It had a fountain for people, a large basin for horses, and two on the sides for cats and dogs. Thought this was pretty neat.

I love the texture of the brick to highlight this beautiful structural piece... so cool.
