Great photo. Wonderful detail. Absolute fav. I am visiting my daughter in Maryland in August. Can I ask where it is that one can observe Pelicans so relatively close?
@mbrutus I'm on a boat with a long lens but close to the island. I went on the pelican tour . Here's the link https://delmarvabirding.com/smith-island-pelican-tour/ It left out of Crisfield, Md. on a one and a half ferry ride to Smith Island and then a 30 minute ride in a small boat to some little uninhabited islands that the pelicans are nesting on. I believe they may be gone by August but not sure.
I checked the website and you are correct. They only go out in June and potentially a few days in July. But hopefully, I can go another year. Thanks so much.
