One year ago today the unbelievable happened at the US Capitol. When United States citizens did the unthinkable and invaded the Capitol. Our country is a mess IMO. Not sure what the future holds for us.
This photo is from a visit in 2019. I visited DC often back then hopping on the metro and exploring. Life before covid and riots seems like a lifetime ago.
We visited Washington with the girls aged 8&10ish. Stood outside the White House amongst the crowds. The youngest said, very loudly, "isn't that the place blown up in Independence Day? They mended it quickly". Crowds around us laughed, I pretended wasn't with her!!
Lovely photo and very memorable and quite horrific to watch the scenes on that historic day. Reminds us in England of Guy Fawkes and the GunPowder plot in 1605. Hope we all learn from it and grow more inspired 🙏
Your image is one of such serenity. Yet I agree with your sentiments that life before last Jan 6 and all this covid caution seems an eternity ago, and I'm trying to imagine how it was back when we tried to meet up and Taffy and I got snowed out.
A lovely photo - I've turned into a pessimist and don't believe we can possibly get back to the way we were (all because of one man whose name I do not utter!)
another anniversary to contemplate not just for the americans but for the whole world. the world is no longer the same after that day, i don't think. a beautiful shot of the building, les. aces!
I like this shot - gives me hope that we'll be able to see things again that fill up with hope - wonderful pov and such light and peace - all that is missing right now.
What a delightful capture with just that touch of colour in the flag. There are many countries in a mess at the moment. The UK is not doing much better. If at all!
Love the clarity and at the same time the haziness of this, very striking. I trust things improve... Not sure if it's any consolation, but I think we're in a slightly dangerous mess here too, the population sleepwalking into further and further erosions of proper democracy.

Lovely photo btw
On another note, I hope better days are ahead for the USA.
