OMGosh what a great birding field trip that turned into watching a fox hunt. There's one way in and out and they're coming straight at us. I felt like Michael Elliott crouching in the middle of the lane with thirty five American Foxhounds coming at me instead of New York City traffic. Plan on posting a few more shots. We actually saw the fox and the dogs trying to locate him. It was amazing...... We were rooting for the fox and he did outsmart 35 dogs. What a great way to say goodbye to February.
detest foxes, but not as much as the people who hunt them with dogs. Fantastic photo tho! And @maggiemae it is banned in England, but it doesn't stop them from doing it (just stepping off my soapbox now!)
@jaymarron yes in some places they do, and in other places they pretend that that is what they are doing, but what can the poor huntsmen do if the dogs just happen to get onto the trail of a fox.......................... sorry, probably the wrong place for this discussion.
The red coated riders makes it feel like you went back in time, straight out of a period movie. Beautiful capture! And all those dogs having hunting fun. Fave!
I'm with Julie - I can't stand the sport but can't help enjoying the sight of all those hounds together. I root for the fox though. Glad he outsmarted them.
glad you were there at the right time.
