Recycle To Save The Planet

These two girls represent what the average American uses in one year. This is very slowly changing. I don't think they realized what problems plastic bags would cause when it started replacing paper....
What a great visual reminder, Leslie. Love the way you have done the inset here.

At least they can still see something under all that plastic! It must be very hot!

It almost looks like fancy dress - they have put it together very well. I'm glad there are some people trying to change the plastic bag use! Paper bags worked but they come from trees!

@yonnie lol okay didn't post pic yet but I'll tell you . My answering machine had a message from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in DC. They had a cherry blossom photo contest "Show Us Your Blooms". I entered my crystal ball picture and "WON"... OMGosh I couldn't believe it.
An overnight stay in their new Jefferson Suite (4500.00 a night) and dinner for two at their SOU'WESTER restaurant. Can you say City night shots and sunrise shots.... I hope to find a Sat. night when it's not booked and the weather is expected to be clear with no rain....

Sorry Leslie, I'm uploading from an iPad and it uploaded before I had finished the text. I deleted and then uploaded it again. Should be OK now. This picture is an amazing statement. I like their two lovely faces shining through. I used to like the American brown bags. Don't they use them any more?

@busylady yes at the grocery stores you can get either paper or plastic. 99 % of people chose plastic. Where I live in Montgomery County Md. last year they started charging a bag tax of a nickel for each bag. They hope this will make more people bring their bags . It has worked a little and my grocery store even gives you a nickel back for each bag you bring to put your groceries in.

@lesip Congrats on your contest win, Leslie. I know I am far behind on what you have been up to but wow, how exciting. I have always enjoyed your photos and have to go back and see the photo you won with. Love this photo and your collage, it says a lot. My family will no longer have plastic bags available to them at their stores starting later this year in the SF area. Looks like we will have the same thing happen in the Sacramento area but not sure when. Many are buying bags that are reusable so bringing those in to shop with. Some stores only bag with plastic while others here give you a choice. Sounds like your county has it right and doing well to help with the plastic bag problem in our landfills and environment.
