Robber Fly

Went to fill the feeders at Blackhills Park and ended up helping the Naturalist find Monarch Butterfly caterpillars and eggs on the milk weeds. One of the naturalist of the park called me over to get a picture of this Robber Fly apparently they are not something you see every day. I guess my butterfly picture will wait of another day.
Cool looking bug!

Oh my word I have never seen one of these. Do they bite or sting? Not a pretty insect. Great capture though!! Thanks for sharing - butterflies are so common now!! LOL!!
