It is sad that all these rocks are covered in graffiti but does make an interesting photo. There's a stairway close to the top and then just a ledge and the amazing views. Wondering about those stairs I googled to see if I could find out about the history of this spot. It is located right off the Appalachian Trail close to the Md. / Pa. border in Washington County, Md. I found a picture from the 1880's that show that at one time a two story wooden tower structure stood at the top of these stairs and people would take a train ride to visit this area during the Resort Era (1870-1930). It also holds Civil War history and was used to see battlefields below. I had seen two photog friends pictures from this site and knew I wanted to visit. I was not disappointed and hope to return soon and capture the autumn colors happening below. Oh there is a hang gliding club that also takes off from here. Captured with a fisheye lens.
There's something both fascinating and disturbing about seeing natural beauty modified in this way by all the graffiti. What in interesting background, though...glad you are sharing it with us.
Yes, I'm in two minds about the graffiti. It does make a great photo, but one can't help but wonder if it's right. Very interesting, for sure and a great photo.
