New and different and confusing

This gift came in the mail today and I'm confused by it. It's an amaryllis bulb, covered in pink wax. The instructions say you don't need to water it, or put it in dirt, or give it plant food. Indirect sunlight is the only requirement. I don't know about this...

I’ve seen these in the garden centre, but they were £10 each so I’ll wait to see how yours turns out 🙂.
