Here's the story behind my first capture of a stranger. My friend and I were waiting to pay at the restaurant counter...I had just mentioned that I would love to get this gentleman's photo, when my friend noticed a pamphlet by the register. There he was - JR Root, horse behaviorist and Professional Cowboy for over 45 years. So I decided to be courageous and ask. He paused for a moment, never smiled, but said "it's fine". And here's the result...
Very cool! I initially asked as well before taking people's photos but since I'm getting better at taking them unnoticed I've stopped asking. In this case, I do think you made the right choice asking since he is a well known professional. Anyway, enough of that...its a really nice shot. I really like the bottle of hot sauce at the ready!
