I Shall Call Him Henry

(Alternate title: How to fill an entire memory card with a Heron) I took a walk by the lake and there he was - the bird formerly known as Mystery Bird. Hoping this is his permanent home.
A green heron, yes? Small memory card? He is sweet. Love herons and Henry is a wonderful name for him!

@amandal Thanks, Amanda! Yes, he is a green heron. (I had help identifying him last month when I got my first capture of him)

I've seen lots of blue herons, but have only seen a green one once or twice. Rare, maybe?

We have a green heron we keep capturing, but I've not posted it yet. I shall name her Henrietta, and she can be your Henry's virtual companion.

A brilliant shot. Fav.

Yes, and I think it is a green heron. Harder to spot, at least for us here, than a blue heron, which is bigger. Nice composition and shot against the green water.

Great capture!
I'm constantly sneeking to the creek to try to get a picture of the (blue) heron who often visit but they are so shy. They see me before I see them and gone they are. I'll keep trying though. :-)

@angeliekevl Thanks! I do think the young ones are easier to spot. I've only seen the adult once. I have a few of our blue heron, but I had to take the photo from a long way off - no getting too close.
