I don!t have to imagine, I remember a few of them. Inner Sanctum, Cowboy shows like Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Lone Ranger. Mysteries like The Shadow., Orsen Wells, The thin Man, Boston Blackie. Comedies like Ozzie &Harriet, Burns & Allen, Jack Benny , Martin & Lewis. Some of the music shows included Spikr Jones, Frank Sinetra, Your Hit Parade and The original Amature Hour. There were so many others plus news, weather and sports. Baseball was a big thing on radio. That is how the world stayed informed. Yes we played outside all day long using our imaginations. We didn't sit glued to TV even when they did come on the market. We got together with family and friends. No internet the probably wasn't even a twinkle in anybody's eye. Very few women worked until the war then went back to their homes after and the men came home and went back to work as the bread winners. Life was definately different then.
great capture, we used to listen to Workers Playtime on something very similar, an old radio banished to the potting shed. It kept us amused through hours of prickling out seedlings.
