My first "real" camera, purchased around 1977. I'm going to start using it again. I was reminded of the Paul Simon song "Old Friends/Bookends"...Time it was and what a time it was. It was a time of innocence, a time of confidences, long ago it must be. I have a photograph. Preserve your memories, they're all that's left you.
Love the dual meaning of your caption. Will you have to order the film by mail? How will you get it developed? One thing I've really enjoyed about my new Rebel is the manual setting. It's taken me back to when I had to do that because there was no automatic setting on my old Yashica or Minolta. I understand the attraction.
Last year I retired from teaching at a high school. The photography teacher there had all her students learn on film first before they were ever allowed to touch digital. They were better photographers because of it.
@mbemis I was able to find the film at our local Walmart. I'm thinking that their photo dept can develop the film, too. In order to share the photos, I'll have to either print and scan them, or get a CD (I hope that's possible) It should be interesting. I'll keep everyone posted! Thanks for stopping by.
@overalvandaan We love doing that as a family. I'm sure my mom has more photos at her house that we haven't found yet. She loves the old ones the best, and so do I! Thanks for visiting!
@cejaanderson I can understand why! I enjoy all the new technology, but at the same time, I'm glad there was a time in my life when it didn't exist. It makes me both grateful for what I have now, and for what I had then.
I purchased mine in about 1980 and surprise, surprise it was a Nikon. I have two Nikon film cameras. Wish I knew someone who could use them. Maybe I'll consider using them for "art" like you. Could be fun. And fitting.
@joansmor Joan, I'd be honored for you to do some similar captures! I am loving my new collection of old cameras, and plan to post some photos of those soon. Thanks for dropping by!
@overalvandaan How wonderful! I hope you have done a better job than we have of documenting the photos...we have some with no names, and no idea who they are.
