This is a dam near my house. I grew up hiking around the reservoir and going to see the dam, but now the land has been developed. The reservoir is surrounded by expensive homes, and there are few places for the general public to enjoy it. The water company has fenced off the dam at the top so you have to take a round about way to get to it. My daughter and I ignored the signs and went off the beaten path to take pictures. On the way out we met some conservation officers that were coming in so I guess we left just in time.
@digitalrn I totally agree. I hate to see the beautiful forest destroyed to build houses. Fortunately, when they closed the local army base, Fort Harrison, they had the foresight to make it into a state park and preserve the landscape.
@moncooga I grew up literally down the road in a modest ranch house back in the day before there were any houses on Geist, and we hiked Geist all of the time. I’m still bitter it was taken over by homes.
