My husband has been wanting to chop down my beloved Sand Cherry for quite some time now. I resisted, but I had to admit it wasn’t as pretty as it once was. A few days ago I was leaving the grocery of all places when I spotted some gorgeous little Japanese Maple trees at a very reasonable price. It was love at first sight! I decided I could give up the Sand Cherry if I replaced it with the maple. It’s similar in color, but won’t exceed six feet in height which makes it perfect for the front garden. We spent Saturday chopping down the three shrubs and digging up roots to make way for the new tenant. I think I made the right decision.
@moncooga No, it was actually at Marsh! You know how they sometimes have annuals for sale the spring? This year they had a bunch of trees. I have no idea why they’d be selling trees, but they were really healthy and only $40 which is pretty cheap for a decent Japanese Maple.
When I read it, I got it. I never bought one, because I thought they were too expensive for an ornamental tree, but always wanted one.
My guess is that if you left the Marsh at 116th and Brookschool, you saw this at Rita's Backyard?
