Lucky by lisabell

Lucky

This deer is my art professor/avid outdoorsman brother’s first attempt at taxidermy. Knowing my son is the ultimate nature lover, he offered it to him for his room. Andrew immediately named it “Lucky” because he felt he was lucky he got to keep it in his room. He was pretty small and didn’t understand the irony at the time. Having a huge imagination back then, Andrew was sure he could see Lucky moving his mouth at night when he was in bed. I think if he could talk, he’d probably request that we quit using him has a hat rack and restore his dignity.
Sorry I haven’t been commenting much this week. I’m busy preparing for the big open house this weekend, and I’ll have to catch up next week. I really, truly appreciate everyone’s comments and enjoy interacting with all of you!

Hmmm, if he became the project of a Taxidermist, he must have bitten some some. Lucky?

oops...Not "some some". Some buckshot"

Lucky for your son, not so lucky for the deer. Fun story and funny shot!

@moncooga Apparently Lucky has a huge tumor so he wasn’t exactly edible. He probably ended dying more humanely this way so maybe his name is fitting.

LOL. great shot.
I love to shoot pictures of deer in the rutting season in October here. The deer love to thrash thier antlers in the bracken and moss to stop the little hairs itching and to get a big headdress to impress the does. This shot really reminds me of a big stag with so much foliage on his antlers that he could hardly see. Unfortuately I was not quick enough to photograph him.

Poor Lucky - that name was even more ironic than I thought initially with the tumor. I had to smile at the story and what Lucky would say. :)

Oh my! Well, Goofy is my favorite of the Disney gang, so I'll say that he's lucky to have that hat! Good luck with the open house!
